Easy Targeting Using Binoculars.



It's quite tricky trying to starhop if you have light pollution because the guide stars themselves can be quite hard to locate. This can be even worse if you have a smaller field of view; mine are only 6.5°.
This means that star-hopping whilst looking through the eyepieces is a real challenge!
There is an easy way though...

My Method.

Simply aim your binos in the general direction of the object using your focussing wheel as a sight. You should only be able to see the front of the knob.
This is aimed at a phone mast which I use for setting my finderscope on my telescope.
A closeup view of what you SHOULD see.As you can see, the mast is almost centred. It's 1/2° out at most.

It's as simple as that!
