DISASTER! (almost)
Well, THAT was scary!
I tried setting my scope onto my tripod to photograph Mars and was getting frustrated as it wasn't being as simple as usual. I just couldn't get the lenses set just right. The fact that I was viewing through a bedroom window and my scope was mounted on a tripod should have told me that it was a disaster waiting to happen.
IT DID!
I accidentally knocked the tripod and the scope went crashing to the ground, knocking the pointer off!
Thankfully, I've checked the scope today and reattached the pointer; nothing was damaged. All that was needed was recalibration, which I did, as usual, by centering on a distant object and aligning the pointer with successively more powerful lenses.
LESSONS LEARNT.
1) Don't rush!
2) Don't mount a Dobsonian TT on a tripod!
3) Don't work when tired and/or frustrated!
